Guided Meditation: The Art of Letting Go

by | Sep 13, 2020 | 0 comments

In this short guided meditation, excerpted from one of his virtual meditation workshops, Craig invites you to leave behind the cares and concerns of your life and step into the infinite depth of your true nature. This 10-minute audio demonstrates the power of simply resting here and now as a conscious, awake presence, without trying to make anything happen, and without imposing anything on this moment.

Below the video player is an MP3 version of the talk and an edited transcript, if you’d prefer to engage the content in that way.

GUIDED MEDITATION

I want to invite us all to settle into a meditation posture, and formally leave behind the cares and concerns of our life and of this world.

It’s obviously a very turbulent and insecure moment for all of us here on planet Earth, with everything that’s happening in the world right now. We’re not denying that turbulence, uncertainty, and insecurity, we’re making room for it.

But we’re also consciously making a choice that we’re going to let it all go, and allow ourselves to fully focus on the matter at hand, on the work we’re here to do together, and on our own spiritual practice and awakening. Which could be the most significant thing any of us could do to contribute to this world that is so in need of our enlightened contribution, of our enlightened awareness.

So, leaving behind the concerns of our lives and the concerns of our world is not an irresponsible thing to do. It might be a very responsible thing to do so that we can penetrate into the depth of our true nature, into the wisdom, capacity and the bottomless well of care and love and creativity that is the essence of who we are, and that is indeed what this world needs from us.

We let go of the surface, and we allow ourselves to sink into the depths, to become present again to this extraordinary possibility of profound spiritual awakening that has called us here together.

Allow yourself to rest here and now as a conscious, awake presence, without trying to make anything happen, and without imposing anything on this moment. By imposing, I mean without insisting on any particular experience, or having any expectation, and without trying to interpret what’s happening, or even understand what’s happening.

Let go of any and all concepts, constructs.

Letting go of them doesn’t mean not having concepts arise, not having any attempt to understand and interpret arise. Letting go of all that just means not engaging with it, not investing in it, not believing in it. Not attaching to it.

Notice the quality of consciousness and beingness in this place of non-engagement, non-attachment.

Notice what it’s like to be here right now, without any attempt to do anything, or get anywhere, or know anything, or be anyone, to just be spacious, free, open.
